Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out the mediating effects of mobility constraints on the relationship between cognitive function and depression in the elderly women. For the study, the 2014 National Survey of the Elderly was used and the elderly women(n=5,446) were classified by household type, and we implemented 3 steps of Baron & Kenny(1986) to verify the mediating effect of mobility constraint. The results of this study showed that the mobility restriction in the elderly woman single households and in the elderly woman with children live households has a statistically significant partial mediating effect on the relationship between cognitive function and depression. This study is significant in that it examines the mobility constraint as a mediating factor in the relationship between cognitive function and depression of female elderly people by type of suggestion. In addition, by solving the mobility constraint and by addressing mobility for the elderly women, it is possible to prevent the depression caused by the social isolation. And the government, local residents and the elderly women citizens will work together to prevent to prepare for a reduction in cognitive ability through continuous social relationships.
